It’s a New Year and we’re off to the races. Boundaries are falling at a diametric rate against the probability of walling off our southern border. Innocents are being scorned and painted with a broad brush as undesirables. Whole families are being shipped out. Individuals who escaped abuse and threats with no place to turn are being bussed back to the barrios to be raped, enslaved or murdered. What our present border system does to people is a sad testimony to the American way. Thousands who came here as children now find themselves as political pawns in a chess match played by indifferent gamers who have no conscience for other human beings below their status.
The shallow priorities of our elected Congressional members boil down to who can execute one-upmanship on the opposition first. The only matter that makes them remotely pertinent to being like us, and/or representing us, is that they come from areas arbitrarily set aside by boundaries in which we are located. They are not us. They do little if anything that directly benefits us as citizens. What they do accomplish for the public good could be done in 20 % of the time that they spend serving special interests, lying and bickering among themselves, and smoke-screening their constituencies. Frankly, when they are examined for what they do with panache it is exactly what POTUS does under the spotlight he has created for himself. Either place it is obscene.
Prior to the election last November we were introduced to the public exposition of boy’s talk with a reference to grabbing women’s p- - - ys. No other president has ever done anything like that on television! It took a TV star (A legend in his own mind) to establish that new low. Thus, a cultural door opened wide and through that door escaped several thousand tweeted lies, to date, and the answering yellow journalism that feeds the daily fire of imbecilic knee jerks by the leader of the free world. Recently we arrived at a new low with “shitholes.” Along the way those “sons a bitches” were deposited on the Twitter slicky-slide. And any minute now, an “F” - - bomb or two will come cascading from the Whitehouse font of impetuosity. Also let’s not forget “dotard” contributed by a player on the world stage who shares the same wit and double-digit IQ with our actor. This slang word from the world of no-Kim-chi-anywhere may be a curse word or a veiled term of endearment. DUH.
Speaking of which, it has been suggested that with the Oprah wish bubble afloat we may have entered a new cultural era where fame and ratings determine political gravitas. What’s next? The campaign trail: “You’re Fired!” versus “Speak Your Truth.”

Peggy Noonan made some brilliant observations in her Opinion piece in last Sunday’s Wall Street Journal. The best was about Hollywood and its orbiting stars celebrating their heroism in uniting against sexual abuse and rallying in solidarity. Oprah seized the moment and dispensed feel good envy for her courageous outspokenness. Noonan points out rightly, that it was in fact common knowledge throughout the entertainment world that abuse, harassment and rape had gone on for years. The power base of the industry, agencies, and studios had all been complicit. So, when the first awards show after the 2017expose’s rocked the media they understood that they would not be able to dodge the subject. They seized it and re-directed it.
“They boldly declared themselves the heroes of this saga. They were the real leaders in the fight against sexual abuse— they spoke truth to power. They went so far, a viewer would be forgiven for thinking, that they were not upset because they found out about Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey, et al. They were upset, as Glen Reynolds noted on Twitter, that you found out, and thought less of them. Anyway they painted themselves as heroes of the struggle.”
Once again, unable to disavow their collective ongoing cowardice and inability to sweep the revelations under the rug they joined one another in a wholesale “face-save.”
The spin doctors are frenetic in their opposing take on Me Too advocates. Bridget Bardot’s naked assessment of publicity seekers joining up with the groped group, is plausible food for thought. These days Miss Bardot bides her time as an animal rights advocate. The 83 year old looks like a cross between Honey Boo-Boo and Joan Rivers. The only grope she’s getting these days is from a Great Dane.
A last word about DACA “Dreamers.”
There are roughly 800,000 of these people who were brought into this country illegally. At the time they were mostly infants; 2,3,5,or 6 years old. Today many are in the armed services. Others are teachers or college students. Many more lead productive lives and contribute to society. This is in fact an issue that is a no brainer. It would be one of the greatest tragedies of our time to throw these innocents out of our country.
We all know by now that the Breitbart Canary has decided to sing.

U.S. is trying to choke off DRK cash flow:
especially on the African continent. Africa-North Korea trade often takes the form of petroleum deals, infrastructure projects and military assistance. Many African nations maintain ties with North Korea because it offers favorable trade deals and also supported them during their post-independence struggles. Convincing African leaders to cut North Korea off could be more difficult after the controversial comments President Trump allegedly made about Haiti and African nations.

Tax Breaks and Dollars Everywhere
The Republicans have to be dancing in the aisles as corporate manufacturers are returning to the U.S. and word of employee bonuses, and raises in worker’s wages are flooding the national media. Chrysler –Fiat is converting a truck plant to accommodate the relocation of its Ram Heavy Duty trucks to Warren, Michigan from Satillo, Mexico. This is part of a $1billion expansion planned for the immediate future. The company said that the plant conversion will create 2,500 new jobs. The company also said that they will pay $2,000 bonuses to approximately 60,000 hourly and salaried employees, company-wide, because of the U.S. corporate tax overhaul. They intend to retain the Mexico plant and will produce another commercial truck there.
ATT and Comcast announced that they would pay bonuses of $1,000 to over 300,000 of their employees. Walmart, Wells Fargo, and others have increased starting pay and raised employee’s salaries, much more than the U.S. federal minimum wage.
Liberal media mouthpieces have taken a short breather on speculation that the Democrats will be gaining seats in both the Senate (Highly probable that they may upset the majority) and the house and that it is just a matter of time before they rout the GOP because of President Trump. No doubt that should that become a reality they will mount a campaign to impeach the president. That possibility sounds like a manna drop from above to liberals. However, it takes more than wishful thinking to impeach. Bill Clinton is a classic recent example of one whose aberrant behavior in the Whitehouse was kept private from the public by the liberal media until Monica spilled the beans. He slipped out from under impeachment and became the darling of the celebrity speaker circuit while George Bush became his new BFF and straight man. Richard Nixon was the most culpable of the present day trio of bad actors, and he had the decency to resign.
Granted, Mr. Trump has put himself under the magnifying glass, and almost single-handedly created a backlash against the GOP. His conscience, however, won’t nag him a lot about Republican losses until he no longer can summon others to the Oval Office for a chat about his hollow demands.
He was not a Republican before the election, and his kids were certainly not GOP voters. It is almost sad until you think about how noxious it has been to imagine an election swing that ends up making POTUS a lame duck. Fortunately, the electorate has a memory. And they will remember the distinction about who was really responsible for the tax cut stimulus (The Congress) that swept the economy with the fresh air of more money to spend. And, they will remember that the Democrats gifted us with the ACA Obama Care fiasco that fueled record deficits for decades to come and would have destroyed our medical system with its built-in catch 22’s and avenues of corruption that even tankers full of Crazy Glue could not have staunched.
One last word about Oprah running for president. To begin with, anytime a room full of people, who make their money pretending to be someone else, encourages one of their own to do something political, we should all get in our foxholes and cover our heads. (See Al Franken) Oprah fancies herself an existentialist—a free spirit in tune with nature and her limitless imagination. She latches onto others who witness assumptions against fact and scientific conclusion. She thrives on their fervent advocacy, their philosophical pronouncements, and their believable convictions, especially if she likes them personally and they curry tears with sincerity.
She told the Golden Globes’ audience that, in these, “complicated times” we live in, “speaking your truth is the most powerful tool we all have.” Winfrey does not trifle with boring things like data and facts. I invite you to read the article below by Julie Gunlock of the Independent Women’s Forum, regarding vaccines and the danger of having Ms. Winfrey in the Oval Office.
I always liked the Oprah Show, it was warm and fuzzy, and she smiled a lot. However, her expressed beliefs given vent from time to time went to places that the description “benign” smacked of bats in the belfry.
Back to the electorate and their mental acuity; Oprah and Trump placed together in the POTUS deck are two extremes with no margins between. There is nothing separating the two that would fill any kind of vacuum or bleed anything resembling positive change for the U.S. from a presidential standpoint.

Under Construction but . . .
And that is enuff said:
Shit hits the fan in Trumpville as new book releases and Bannon goes off.
The name of this blog is High Road or Low? So, on this blizzard cold Friday at the first of a new year, let’s get on with it.
From the looks of national mutterings these days, about the only redeeming thing one can say about Donald Trump’s election to the presidency is that “he saved the country from Hilary.” That historical footnote will make a great book title in a couple of decades, provided the northern hemisphere isn’t a radiated wasteland. The country, and the world for that matter, is so jaded today, that he certainly won’t be remembered for his crotch grabs, his inane tweeting, and his inability to discern pertinent comment from childish ranting.
This week we get the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the salacious story telling of a media harpoonist interviewing the other political buffoonist. First of all here’s the “dirt” on Michael Wolff who wrote the tell-all (we didn’t really want to hear) which reveals why he and Bannon found each other so quickly.
Now two posers, men of concrete conviction toward unprovable prediction, who have mastered the art of pretending to be smart and cogent about all things of political import, face off in a bout of accusation and denial. Guess which one does which. Take Mr. Trump whose modus-operandi is to praise and enthuse over his choices; then lie with a characteristic bald face when they sour. Or, saddle up with the alt-right sage who became Pants-on-fire’s campaign “director” before moving rapidly upward to the inner circle of the Oval. Bannon ended as the appointed fair haired POTUS brain trust swimming among the cogitating cabinet of “experts”. Now he’s a figment of our imaginations—says POTUS.
This morning on Today, Wolff made an important point; Trump’s response and his behavior makes the book look plausible and the fact that he’s lied adds to this conclusion.
"Not only is he helping me sell books," Wolff told Savannah Guthrie, "but he's helping me prove the point of the book. This is extraordinary, that the President of the United States would try to stop the publication of a book.”
This was reinforced by the president's other public behavior, too. That culminated with a tweet at nearly 11 p.m. Thursday night, just before the book's release:
"I authorized Zero access to White House (actually turned him down many times) for author of phony book! I never spoke to him for book. Full of lies, misrepresentations and sources that don’t exist. Look at this guy’s past and watch what happens to him and Sloppy Steve!"
10:52 PM - Jan 4, 2018
“And the beat goes on.”
I have to agree that the possibilities of impeachment loom large for the Trump klatch’s leader. A little “country club” confinement is probably in the works for the boys, too. Mueller’s team is loaded with Democratic lawyers and yet POTUS is so busy staring at his belly button he’s never tweeted about that situation.
Unfortunately things could get worse. It has been suggested that inner sanctum staff tells POTUS only what he wants to hear. Otherwise he doesn’t hear anything but what the demons tell him. He will continue to criticize the world, insult leaders, and friends, and make mistakes that have far reaching consequences and he will be
as oblivious then as he is today. One positive option exists. We might survive Donald Trump. Then What?

A Christmas Story (Well, Kinda Sorta)
Once upon a time there were two small Florida towns located on a road that Elvis once spent 45 minutes on while making a movie. This road terminates at the Gulf of Mexico. This arterial by-way is aptly named “Follow That Dream” Parkway. The smaller of the two communities is situated at the end of “Follow That Dream”—some say this is appropriate. The larger town is twice as big population-wise, and three times larger in land mass. Its tax base is smaller than the smaller town’s, down the road. The bigger town government is the bane of the community’s citizenry according to a hand full of watchdog wannabes.
In the recent past our resident whiner was the head of an activist group known as the Gang of Five. He is the chief operating officer. His lieutenant is the local used car dealer and junk yard operator. Fringe minions were comprised of a couple of pseudo-Jesus freaks, California dreamers (It’s Florida, everyone’s from somewhere else.), and professional litigators that sue small towns for a living.
Chief Whiner says, “Argh! We’re all gonna die! They do things to us without telling anyone. Can you believe they raised the water bill? That damn commission of five people who got their seats in an election that was rigged. It’s always rigged. When I ran it was rigged.”
The neighbors across the street and behind the sprawling ranch style Florida home on a canal are used to hearing this high decibel protestation lilting across their lawns and oak lined roads.
Chief Whiner continues, “It’s time for me to write another letter to the _? _ ?_? _ (The Bottom Feeder Gazette). I just found out that the town owns a bunch of property—six or more lots and some acreage. Why? They don’t pay a dime in taxes, while the rest of us do.
* Properties that are condemned or owe huge water bills are placed under lien and eventually forfeited to the town. State Law. Municipalities don’t tax themselves. They don't teach that brand of civics in Vladimir Lenin Middle School.
Whiner takes a deep breath, “Our town hall is run by a bunch of women who have been there forever and need to be replaced. They know too much! The town should hire a professional city manager like our neighboring community did. They pay him over $60,000 a year. That town hall is quiet as a church on Tuesday. They got rid of all those excess workers. We could afford to a pay a manager $100 grand. The Water system could pay for him. They don’t do anything else with that money.”
** And he could take care of code enforcement and animal control, along with those pesky things like payroll, billing, compliance, auditing, budgeting, public notices, municipal water, maintenance, and the town fire department which also services the other town down “Follow That Dream,” along with those attendant administrative activities relevant to an annual budget in excess of $1.5 million.
“My God, they’re going to break us all. They want to bring sewer and waste water treatment to the town. No one swims in that river anymore. And all the fish have died. Even the Manatees stopped coming. So what if the septic tanks overflow into the lake and the river? I don’t know anyone who’s gotten sick do you? So what if my grass died from my river fed sprinkler system full of the glyphosate (Round Up) they spray in the lake? If it’s so bad they wouldn’t be building an Olympic kayak rapids-run from the lake into the river, would they? Who’s payin’ for that?” (* Grant money)
“To add insult to injury they are going to make connection to the waste water treatment system mandatory. What a rip off. Like taxes, which they raised three years ago." (* The chief whiner pays $2.50 a month in additional taxes for his $135,000 property. Add that to the staggering increase of $1.50 to the monthly water bill and that’s shameful.)
“Another thing I think we should do something about. That’s the people that get on our board of commissioners. If they don’t own a home worth more than a hundred grand they should be banned from running for office. (Welome Home Jim Crow.) I’ll write that letter today as soon as I come back from town hall. I’ve got three dozen public records requests that they need to get processed before they close. Whose idea was it to give everybody New Year’s day off? Ya know what that’s going to cost?”
* TheTown of Inglis, Florida’s mayor has worked tirelessly for the last two years to obtain over $6.5 million in grants for a municipal waste water treatment facility. She generated funding of $900 thousand for CDBG grants that repair or replace homes for qualifying citizens of her town, and A Hazard Mitigation grant to repair the Mastadon Street bridge. Another grant will produce additional sidewalks and street lighting while Enterprise Florida has provided grant money to promote eco-tourism
Please Note: The quotations attributed to the Chief Whiner are pure fabrications of what this writer imagines he would say—which is 99% fabrication never-the less.

That's enuff said. Happy New Year - Be SAFE!
This is the time of year that many find a pleasant and secure respite from the hassles of everyday life. It is the celebration of the birth of the Christ child and considering the place and the environment into which God introduced his Son it was more than an ordinary birth. It was the start of a short life whose journey was an amazing phenomenon. To say life was cruel during this time, under Roman oppression, is an inadequate observation. And yet Jesus prevailed, was witnessed by thousands, and was the foundation of Christian acknowledgement that would eventually encircle the Earth and touch millions. When called by the Father to give the ultimate sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins, he did just that, dying after excruciating hours on the cross. And at that moment the bigger story began.
We live in the greatest country on this planet. While we have freedom of expression and a multitude of personal freedoms that cover a spectrum that the majority of most of Earth’s people don’t have, we also have peace at home. We have a representative governmental structure, a lasting body of law anchored by the Constitution, and a political system that is much more resistant to destruction, from within and externally, than many of us believe is possible. Our Good, Bad and Ugly, make up the amalgam that makes America Great. It is the resilience, steadfastness, and grandeur of the whole, not the ramblings, or behaviors, of one or another that make us what we are, Americans.
Merry Christmas . . . and God save us from ourselves

The bobby-sox loving evangelical jurist, Roy Moore missed the opportunity of a crackpot’s aspiration by the skin of Doug Joneses ass Wednesday night. He and his strategist/partner in crime almost pulled the wool over the entire state of Alabama’s eyes. In this case, God is Great. Some divine power aside from Donald Trump’s endorsement must be given credit here where credit is due.
Straight faced with steely eyes, I can’t imagine how scary this lothario’s approaches to teenage girls must have been for those innocents who were singled out by the predator. Why is it that main stream media misses important facts when the spotlight of revelation is trained on miscreant public figures? Yes, accusers came forward but a mob scene loses crowd interest rapidly.
Karl Rove’s column in the WSJ added facts referencing deception and thievery by the dynamic duo of rural Alabama’s elites. Roy and his blonde cowgirl of a wife ran an evangelical telemarketing scam called the Foundation for Moral Law. Most of the funds raised went to pay for more promotions and salaries for Moore and wife Kayla who is probably the brains behind Moore’s character defense.
On election day, in answer to some anti-Semitic accusations she orchestrated some big time “theatre.” Declaring from a podium that their “lawyer is a Jew.” And that they have supporters there that are Jewish. There upon a chorus of shouting and clapping ensued from the back of the room, right on cue.
Trump’s LameO dodge post-election was classic POTUS shuffle. There’s no plausible reason for making a last minute endorsement of Moore except some favor owed to one half of the ultra-right odd couple, Steve Bannon. Who’s the other half? Scaramucci, Silly. Their political gamesmanship has about as much of a chance at success as Kim Kardashian selling ugly sticks on the Home Shopping Network. For cryin’ out loud, what image is Bannon supposed to be projecting? He dresses like a homeless guy who won a $400 dollar gift certificate from Goodwill.
Now a few words regarding the greatest mystery so far. In the tableau of Pants-ON-Fire’s countless gaffs, Put-downs, and outright untruths, what has stymied the responsive outcry concerning the cadre of accusers who have been groped, verbally violated, scrunched, humped, and goosed by Donald Trump Senior? And, when will parallel charges trickle down to that manly corps of sons/son-in-laws hiding in the drapes of Trump Tower down the street?
Don’t forget about Barron, the youngest Trump offspring. Imagine, he’s going to be twelve and it is time for a Birds and Bees talk. Big Donald telling his son how to get along with girls, “When you first meet them and like them right away, grab them by the tit. Then, go for the . . . After that, if they want to go out on a date, then give them a kiss.”
Net Neutrality? Much ado about nothing?
Two years after the Obama Administration stuck its nose in the FCC universe it turns out that those regulations spawned to protect all of us were on the fast track to being useless and unnecessary. Interestingly enough is that the free market principles of supply and demand cured a lot of predicted problems. When more broadband was needed by the big players it was bought from those who had some to spare. High tech cured the problem of seamlessly integrated expansions. Otherwise according to the FCC commissioner’s testimony yesterday none of those regulations were ever needed. So now, when it comes to internet infractions the FCC will be fulfilling its regulatory role. America the Greatest, Already.
Here’s a Cuba prediction.
The government can’t pay for anything. Tourism is the only cash cow they’ve got. As tourist activities intensify, in their wisdom they will be cracking down on entrepreneurs because free enterprise is the bane of communism. Cuba can’t survive without outside subsidies. Venezuela has little crude oil to give Cuba, thus no resale and no supply for petroleum production. It is coming on winter now. But when the weather warms we are going to see a record number of boat people in the Florida Straits. The smallest number of citizens voted this time in the Cuban national and municipal elections. The Cuban people without government jobs are getting sick and tired of doing without and being treated like prisoners. We should all pray for their wellbeing and safety.

Pearl Harbor "a date which will live in infamy".
Yesterday, December 7, 1941 was the day the Japanese bombed the bulk of America’s Pacific Fleet and our airfields at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii
The Infamy Speech was a speech delivered by United States President Franklin D. Roosevelt to a Joint Session of the US Congress on December 8, 1941, one day after the Empire of Japan's attack on the US naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and the Japanese declaration of war on the United States and the British Empire. The name derives from the first line of the speech: Roosevelt describing the previous day as "a date which will live in infamy"..
Within an hour of the speech, Congress passed a formal declaration of war against Japan and officially brought the U.S. into World War II. The address is one of the most famous of all American political speeches.
U.S. Embassy Jerusalem
It looks like BiBi has convinced Pants-on- fire, to confront the Palestinian problem head on. This may be the provocation that ends the confrontation once and for all. The significance of moving the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem is more important than many realize. Note: Since 1948 Israel’s president, prime minister, parliament, Supreme Court and most of its government ministries have been seated in Jerusalem.
The Palestinians, much like other Arab/Muslim enemies of Israel brain wash their youth from early childhood to hate the Hebrew state, and of course America who is Israel’s best friend anywhere. The shame of this youthful indoctrination is that these babies grow up to become the “citizen army” of young people who throw rocks, stab Jews, and blow themselves up for an ideal based on a condition that will never be conducive to a civil existence no matter how many concessions they might have won at the negotiating table.
The other cultural flaw of reactive Islam is that if they aren’t fighting outsiders (infidels) they’re fighting each other. This truth has been ongoing for centuries.
Having Palestinians and their ilk across the fence in the squalor of their chosen existence has been an expensive and never ending defensive headache for Israel. Having them in their midst is an untenable proposition and Israel will not allow that.
The Jewish state has integrated over a million Arabs into its society and those people have prospered because of the democratic and civilized culture of the Hebrew state.
No one should be surprised if a cataclysmic response is unleashed against Palestine aggression.. Israel has practiced and prepared for just that, from the time of their modern day existence.
Kim & EMP
Pre-holiday news on the international scene includes the ongoing chest beating of Kim um jingle-jangle re: his rocketry games and nuclear aspirations. Anyone who thinks that POTUS has the least bit of influence on China re: this maniacal threat is kidding themselves with wishful thinking. China has set Trump up. The more he threatens and acts the blustering fool, the more Pacific Rim allies get nervous and impatient with the foundering influence Mr. Trump’s administration has with anyone in the region. China now has the upper hand both economically and politically because of POTUS’s nationalist “our way or no way” policies.
North Korea recently suggested that they could detonate a hydrogen bomb in the earth’s stratosphere that would generate an Electro-Magnetic Pulse and disable the world-wide Global Positioning System. That sounds like a real doomsday type of threat. As a result GPS and weapons systems are useless except in line-of-sight engagements. Around the clock navigation and flying blind depend on GPS. Cel phones and global time accuracy are integrated with GPS. We should take that seriously shouldn’t we? Well, so should Russia, China, and anyone else who thinks they can capitalize on such an event. They have as much potential adversity and lose as we do.
We do have the land-based Loran system still in place. It’s a dinosaur but . . . Loran C covers everywhere to the equator and to the Arctic. Finding a receiver for aligning tell-tale positioning, sine-waves, requires a visit to the Smithsonian these days. Obama decommissioned Loran in 2009. Maybe our military has done some maintenance as a stop gap fallback. Who knows? Mr. Trump’s friend Vlad Putin continues to toy with extensive cyber warfare. The Chinese are also active in disruptive science.
Unlike Nikita Khrushchev’s hollow exhortation “We will bury you!” The Chinese remain inscrutably silent and energetically active doing just that; with trade, influence, and aggressive territorial movements. While the Russians intimidate their neighbors and foment socialistic despotism by supporting Stalinist thugs who rob their citizens and eliminate their opposition in the name of a system that has an ideal that doesn’t accomplish but one thing; the enrichment of despots who centralize power and hold their people prisoners. i.e. Cuba and Venezuela. I read a columnist earlier in the week that said it’s probably better that the U.S. has no significant policy towards South America because our relations would be worse than they are already.

A guy named Nate left this story on Yahoo:
I was talking to a friend's little girl, and she said she wanted to be President some day.
Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, 'If you were to be the President, what is the first thing you would do?'
She replied, 'I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people.' 'Wow - what a worthy goal.' I told her, 'You don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow, pull weeds, and sweep my sidewalks and driveway, and I'll pay you $50. Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food or a new house.'
She thought that over for a few seconds 'cause she's only 6. And while her Mom glared at me, the little girl looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy come over and do the work, and you can just pay him the $50?"
And I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party, sweetheart."

Stay positive and things will work out. So, the slim hopes of the Congressional GOP limp along hoping to beat the sunset on tax reform. The most interesting phenom of this process so far, is that not one Democrat has come forward to support tax cuts for anybody. What does that tell us? It speaks to Democratic policy. Optimum tax revenues are essential to liberal mandates for social entitlements and deficit spending sacred cows.
Ding-dong operatives who do their best work as detractors(such as Elizabeth Warren, Al Franken, and Bernie – Karl Marx – Sanders) heap whiny speculation on the deficit growth where just a year ago a pause, at least, came to the longest running, largest increase, to our debt/deficit, that was spawned by a democratic majority in Congress and a president who ponied more bad policy/debt growth than any president before him. See ObamaCare and the numbers that boondoggle created.
Excerpt from Forbes article October 2016: “the government gave out $27 billion in premium subsidies this year alone. Over the next ten years, CBO expects that amount to rise to $568 billion.” To see the complete article Click: 5&4333jik8
When he took office the national debt was just under $10 trillion dollars and the GDP was $14.75 trillion dollars. When Obama, Pelosi, and Schumer got done last year the National Debt exceeded $20 trillion dollars and the GDP trailed at $16.7 trillion dollars.
So, what’s another trillion dollars in five to six years if Democrat’s pessimism turns out to have any merit, verses growth, higher disposable income, and more jobs if the Republicans are right? In a crap shoot, I’ll take the Republican’s chance at snake eyes against the Dems “crapping” out more than once. And therein lies the real problem. Democrats are committed to obstruction and the atypical strategy of blame.
If Trump’s Pocahontas slur on Monday wasn’t troubling enough, the Oval Office event with the Native American code talkers was also held in front of a portrait of former President Andrew Jackson, whose Indian Removal Act led to the Trail of Tears and the deaths of 4,000 Cherokee and Creek tribe members. Only In America!
I am especially thankful today for having the privilege of being a citizen of the United States of America. I thank God for that birthright. I know that no matter how far off the rails our government goes, no matter how wacko our society slides, our country has the resilience and the intelligence pool to weather the storm presently assailing our mores and morals.
The previous eight years we were treated to the unstudied, irrational creation of ObamaCare. Many of our middle class have struggled under the consequential yoke of Obama Care’s premium structure and many have died as a result of its Medicare and hospital mandates, in particular cardiology patients. Hospital reimbursements are penalized for readmissions that occur before a 30 day period. Mortality rates went up dramatically because of this arbitrary move to cut spending. Our annual deficit also went up substantially while subsidizing insurers who could not survive, actual imposed costs of claims, struggled to stay in business.
Our system of government will eventually refine this liberal, legislative knee-jerk and find a way to improve the delivery of medical care for our people that is not sculpted in the facsimile of socialism. (We hope?) No other nation on the face of the earth has the resources to accomplish such a recovery from such an enormous mistake.
Our young people are brighter today than we were yesterday. And even though they are subjected to totally biased opinion and philosophy in the temples of higher education they will respond with logical reaction and new enthusiasm for the model that represents the great country we live in. This is our story since the Republic was founded over two hundred years ago. We should all give thanks for the United States of America.
While our present day President, lies, takes credit for matters that are not his to claim, belittles, sews discontent, and rambles relentlessly, we should be proud that our system has remedial checks and balances, along with the electoral process, that will correct this anomaly in time. Lessor nations have fallen into the despotic abyss created under the exact circumstances our country is experiencing today. It starts with the same type of personality beset with egoism and little common sense as we are dealing with in the Whitehouse. Beware of artificial calamity created by personality driven blindness. i.e. abandonment of NAFTA and The Pacific Rim Partnership for a start.
In the small community where I live we have our own segment of misbehaving obfuscators and naysayers who would tear down local government for the sake of personal triumph. One in particular cannot make a plausible argument without intentionally misplacing or misstating the facts. And yet, his “commentaries” appear in the pages of the local fish wrapper as frequently as the other cartoons in the regularly circulated genuine newspapers. He ran for the local town commission a few years back, and was soundly rejected. When I think of this unprincipled human being, and the disrespect he’s shown his community, I savor the thought that he might choose to run again where a sound rejection would be the community response to his ongoing abuse.
I close with this little example of local interest to make a point. When an individual seeks public office after stating repeatedly their opinions and criticisms of the administration of government to which they aspire. They should not be surprised by a wholesale rejection of those positions by the electorate. Nor should they expect that the same population would forget those unpopular pronouncements no matter how often they treat that group of fellow citizens to that brand of misleading propaganda. Odds are that the above scenario will be repeated on a national basis if someone with moral character steps forward and advocates for intelligent change instead of buzzword ideals.
