The Beat Goes On
I can remember how I felt when it became apparent that Barack Obama was going to be president. His less than stellar tenure as a senator and his obscure post collegiate background left a lot to be desired when it comes to understanding someone who was about to become president of the United States. An American born black person with a given Islamic name and questionable associations didn’t help an uninformed public accept the idea of this individual as being of presidential timbre. It didn’t help me either. However, we are a country of cock-eyed optimists and we as a country elected him president despite a plethora of contrary warning signs.
When I watched his inaugural address, I recall taking a deep breath and thinking that he just might have a chance to foster real cultural change after-all. Looking back that was probably that recurring compromise, of things that I couldn’t embrace, as wishful thinking. The first few months in which he refused to wear a U.S. flag lapel pin and his repeated statements of admiration for Arabs and other Muslims, along with his deference to royalty of the same ilk annoyed me. It was disrespectful to the office of POTUS. Barrack is a smooth talker, and he is very clever with what he doesn’t say. His sidestepping of the Congress and the last years of his term of ruling outside the separation of powers with the infamous Executive Order annoyed me more, and millions of others. I took to referring to him as the Emperor. He certainly was behaving like one.
That period of time was the beginning of dissatisfaction with the Democratic rule of our country. Don’t forget that during his first term the Congress passed the 12,000-word Affordable Care Act that 90% of the Democrats in the House didn’t or couldn’t read. Since then our government has spent more than 90 billion dollars subsidizing 24 million people so they could have below market, medical health insurance premiums. On the graph of the economic scale, we might as well have spent another couple of billion a year and given the coverage for free to the non-contributors. Once again we should remind ourselves that nowhere in the U.S. Constitution does it say that our government will provide health care for our citizens. That is a Karl Marx idea and a failed accomplishment with gruesome, outwardly rippling side effects for every socialist nation on the face of the earth who’s tried it. i.e., Cuba who produces doctors in record annual numbers and exports them as medical slaves to offset their trade deficits with other countries.
We survived Mr. Obama and Michelle and frankly their tenure as far as decorum. And we survived his heavy handed cohorts in the Senate and the House. We had a chance to undo many of the extreme and ineffective things that saddled us with a historical deficit that interestingly became yesterday’s news when Trump took office.
The Emperor got a lucky break when his term ended at a fortuitous time. Consequences of his lack of governance integrity manifested themselves with the Russian cyber-invasion. Those hostile incursions belong at the feet of the Obama administration along with other miscalculations and missteps that cost lives and billions that the Democrats were willing to waste to stay in power.
And now the diametric swing of the pendulum has rewarded us with the least qualified and mentally unstable set of circumstances that can be imagined to be occupying the Whitehouse. At first, it was the laughing stock of world forums. Today other free world leaders are losing countless hours of sleep and are scared shitless about what he’s going to do after he blabs something inane again and again.
Sooner than later there will be a pugilistic response to his inferred babbling. As he bullies and assails his fellow party members and the leaders and policy makers of our trading partners he is killing his potential political relationships, and our relationships with our immediate neighbors.
His threat earlier this week demonstrates his ignorance of how our democracy functions. He can’t shut down the government by executive order—if that were possible Obama would have. What Obama did do was refuse to approve a spending bill, and that shut down the government for a few days over the weekend.
Building a wall is an obsessive impossibility. Making Mexico pay for it is bluster lost flapping in the wind. Ain’t gonna happen. Even dunderheads, such as Bernie, Maxine, and Al Franken who has been in the Senate for eight years, wouldn’t approve that exorbitant folly if it was their party's idea----or would they? By the way, what does Franken's tenure say about the smarts quotient of the people of Minnesota?
I invite you to take a moment, bow your head, and pray for our country along with me.

It was a deadening, numbing 77 minutes. (If there's one modern orator he most resembles, it's Fidel Castro.) The abiding feelings that I took away from this carnival of the Id were twofold: first, that this jefe manqué is on the verge of sending people infinitely better than he is to die in a war he doesn't understand, and second, and probably most important, this is a president* who is scared to death. He's frightened of the responsibilities of his office, of the mounting unpopularity of both himself and his policies, and of the hounds baying at the frontiers of his shady past and shadier present. He's terrified, and he should be. He's desperately shoring up the bubble that his ovine followers helped him build to insulate him from the truth and from empirical reality. Click Here

Mr. Trump has little, if any, self-control when it comes to an open mic and an unrehearsed command performance. I’ve listened to his most recent lame cover-up and the attendant talking heads until I have a headache. My ongoing impression is a fool attempting to pull the wool over all of our eyes as he backpedals once again from wide gaps in his tempral lobe processor.
The United States government has spent billions, and without hesitation sent thousands of our best, half way around the world to confront and die at the hands of evil. We are expected to accept that price of the random, fickle finger of finality as the cost of waging a righteous war.
In that daily recurrence of miniscule tragedy we take those consequences as a footnote and frankly give little but passing notice to the deaths of our own.
I find it patently absurd to discuss any aspect of reaction and angry response to the evil that paraded itself down one of our hometown streets this past weekend. When slack jawed, mouth breathing, mentally devoid miscreants declare racist, Godless, allegiance to an ideal that took millions of lives in captivity, and battle to eradicate, it warrants a reaction in kind.
For mainstream America, the normal answer to such displays and invasions is the manifestation of “We’ve had enough!” Mr. Trump stop insulting us with your spontaneous tantrums. There is no place in this great country for Swastikas being glorified, much less being paraded, or defended even by vague association. You are not making America Great.
During the campaign, Trump was known for freewheeling retweets, though it occasionally landed him in hot water as he elevated various users with fringe views. He once blamed a “young intern” for a retweet suggesting that genetically engineered corn was responsible for Ben Carson leading him in Iowa polls.

What About The Neighbors?
Our government is too easy. We co-opt our friends and let our enemies spit in our faces. But we do it with panache. We condemn patriots like Arizona Sherriff Joe Arpaio and idolize, with portraits on tee shirts, one of the hemisphere’s most notorious pathological killers, the Stalinist, Che Guevara. One of many examples of cult like blinder vision too prevalent in our culture.
Regimes, including our own, are not the consensus of a state’s everyday people. Cuba is certainly a model example of that. While its citizens revel in the opportunity to be entrepreneurs, today, the government keeps them in halter and runs every conceivable enterprise through its military siphoning off millions in profits for arms, exploitive forays in vulnerable governments, and socialist mismanagement.
Venezuela our third highest oil trader is under the boot of Stalinist style conversion to dictatorship by a governing class that is a minority in the overall population. From prosperous Latin American socialist state, with a constitution, it has squandered millions of it precious oil reserves and erased its middle class that now spends hours of each day in search of medical care for its sick and food for its children and families. Columbia is still under attack from within even though the narcoterrorists have taken a hiatus to retrench while at the same time being feted for getting the opportunity to generously lay down their arms in peace.
What do we do next? I like Teddy Roosevelt’s strategy: “Speak Softly and Carry A Big Stick; you will go far.” The motto first appeared in a private letter of Roosevelt’s that he wrote to Henry Sprague on January 20th 1990.
Roosevelt described his style of foreign policy as "the exercise of intelligent forethought and of decisive action sufficiently far in advance of any likely crisis. Emphasis mine.
In other words, take the adversarial “diplomacy” off the television screens and social palavering sites, and send those warnings via diplomatic messenger. Kill off the white noise.
Informed voices of first hand plausibility number few but should be heard, and the romanticizing of evil doers at our backdoor should be taken seriously and stopped. After almost sixty years of deprivation and being held captive Cuba’s people should be set free and other nations in the Americas must be aided, and abetted with education and the opportunity to be free. Truly free.

Lucky for us POTUS is an hour away from the code box with the red button. Also, our good fortune is compounded by the fact that it’s hard to watch your golf ball while tweeting, as it flies with purpose deep into the fairway rough.
Meanwhile, as POTUS does the Macarena backward two step, on his big mouth strategy tweets, the Dems are moving fast like flesh-eating bacteria trying to devour one another. Looks highly possible that all this infighting and the mixed policy ultimatums may gift, election-wise, the Republican majority in both houses of Congress.
Oh goody, more indecisive overpaid pols. On the bright side, there won’t be a problem getting a larger majority to decide nothing.
One more interesting observation: Dems crammed Obama Care down the country’s throat. Today, Insurers are squirming and dodging trying their best to distance themselves from this anchor weight of financial impossibility. It is failing, and its demise is closer than “they” (The Dems) think.
For the socialists, “single payer” echoes through the halls. Reminder Bernie: nowhere in the Constitution does it say that the United States government must provide medical care for its citizens. Frankly, most states have provisions for caring for low-income patients through Medicaid, which is subsidized of course, by the government and not cheap. However, it is better managed than OC which in no way shape or pretension is any more acceptable, performance wise, or less costly. Socialists will be socialist and as they get more power over the people’s government and treasury the more despotic they become. See Venezuela and post-revolutionary Cuba.

Speaking of socialism, I was reminded recently of the horrific history about the #2 darling of the leftist press and daydreaming celebrity population, Che Guevera. The self-styled Stalinist and phony doctor terrorized the Cuban population at the beginning of the “Revolution” in 1959. He stood hundreds in front of firing squads and conducted fake trials with no basis in law. With his oversight, the revolutionary government proceeded to kill, imprison, steal from, and exile over a million—including fourteen thousand children who left the country without their parents, under a Castro edict.
If this fake romanticism interests you, read Humberto Fontova’s (Pictured below) book Exposing The Real Che Guevara and the Useful Idiots Who Idolize Him. He has others.

*Encouraging news from Venezuela?
Factions of the country's armed forces have broken from the new government and have begun forays on army posts and other government installations. Hopefully others will be strong enough to take up the rebellion and put down this blatant dictatorship.
However, President Madura has promoted army officers to General (200 of them) and bestowed large paying privileges on that faction. This typical socialist blueprint will deteriorate into mass jailing and executions if it follows the model seen over and over again world-wide.

Growth: What's Milk Got To Do With It?
Excerpt from article below: Further, each cup of cows' milk consumed was associated with a 0.2 cm height. And children who drank 3 cups daily of NCO were about 1.5 (about 0.6 inches). cm shorter than those who drank 3 cups of cows' milk daily.
The authors suggest that such differences may be due to there being less protein in NCM. For example, they state, while 2 cups of cows' milk contain 16 grams of protein (70 percent of a 3-year old's requirement), the same amount of almond milk contains only 4 grams of protein. And the quality of the protein is unlikely to be the same.

Pump it & Flush It - Where Has It All Gone?
Florida has a water problem (s). Water is being pumped out of the ground faster than nature can recharge it. Development, and the added numbers of people this brings, drive this demand.
Our surface water resources are dwindling also. Again development. All the surface water is charged by rainfall or spring outflows. These bodies are collection basins. More people, more runoff. More development, more septic tanks, and more pollution from runoff.
Since the state government has sway over water resources you would think that our governing bodies would have a practical concern for such a delicate situation showing signs of exploit that cannot be ignored unless you put your head in the sand. Answer: The arrogance of wealth and human nature.
Commentary and learned arguments concerning waste water treatment have been around the opinion pages and the halls of the legislature for decades here in Florida, to no avail. One encouraging note that provides a sensible partial solution to water availability decline and the insatiable greed of development kings and their parasites in politics is waste water recycling to potable water.
Technology has arrived in that approach and the benefits are obvious. Getting rid of septic systems whose numbers are staggering is just one of the major benefits. As the Floridan Aquifer dries up in Tampa Bay, and elsewhere, perpetrators are grasping at straws to pull them from the sinkholes of reality, and waste water to potable reuse is the magic key to continued “good times.” For the stark reality of what “good times” concerning water use means to some, see article below.
Note that the arrival of new residents to the Sunshine State is more than hundreds per day (1,000+?). Predictions say that 26 million will reside here in ten years. There were just under 2 million people in Florida when I went to the Navy in 1959. The pace of newcomers has not abated since. No one knows how many seasonal visitors will park themselves on newly developed campgrounds, hotels, condos, and trailer parks, flushing their way towards permanent retirement in this paradise of sand, sunshine, and shuffleboard courts.
While the developers recline behind gated estates and the last Sand hill crane forages in the local McDonald’s parking lot for cast off French fries, the renewed scramble for creating drinkable water from parched nothing will be far more than the environmental crisis we are ignoring today.
Water Hogs: During drought, hundreds of Tampa Bay homes guzzled a gallon of water a minute.

Jailed Mayor of Caracas Antonio Ledezma
Venezuela Makes the World Stage
Madura wavers slightly in release, this morning at dawn, of jailed mayor of Caracas, Antonio Ledezma. The opposition leader was spirited away on July 31st along with Opposition party founder Leopoldo Lopez who has been sentenced to 13 years in prison by Madura’s appointed Supreme Court. Both were released to house arrest last week before the fixed national Assembly vote with candidates handpicked by Madura. They were jailed in a military prison.
The Pope has urged Madura to suspend his move for changing the country’s constitution. France’s Macron calls for mediation, and even Al Jezeera is reporting on the government’s actions. The new assembly is convening today and the opposition plans protests. The larger towns including Caracas are experiencing rolling power blackouts.
The government has received over 17 trillion dollars in oil revenues over the last seventeen years. Beginning in 2014 before oil prices began to drop the country was experiencing shortages of basics and the results of socialism’s mismanagement and insider corruption began a time where inflation has reached 2,000 percent annually and babies die for lack of simple medications. Over 7 million of Venezuela’s population have fled the country.
Price controls had been initiated by the Chavez, and then Madura, government to placate the poor. However, pricing goods below the cost to manufacture them leads only to scarcity. The government even went so far as to lower gas to nearly give-away prices. Revenues disappeared and the government is on the brink of financial collapse today even though they possess the third largest oil reserves on the planet.
Socialism is a fraud. But dishonest socialists are struck with the power of authoritative rule and the amount of money that a populated country with even scarce resources can produce for plunder.
See this article from the Atlantic Magazine that appeared on May 16th two and a half months ago. It is a sad insight on how the mismanaged government of Venezuela has betrayed its citizens. Imagine what it must be like today for the unfortunate ones left behind.
Potus & Family Have Played Their Cards
On top of the revelations that Big Donald scripted what he wanted Little Donald to say, President Trump continues his personal campaign to make the Russians look good and innocent of collusion while interfering with the United States’ election process. Special prosecutor Mueller has convened a grand jury and it appears that Trump is getting jittery about the Russian connection. He continues to deride any and every body who falls into his purview of opposition or “disloyalty”. He has used that term so often it conjures up a creepy feeling about what this egotistic crybaby could be capable of doing. Mr. Trump keeps council with his imagination. He thinks it and then believes it is true.
